You know what’s really disturbing? It’s rare to come across people who are genuinely secure, happy, and thriving in all areas of their lives….spiritually, emotionally, financially, relationally. And not because they don’t have the potential, but because this society is not designed for holistic peace.
It’s terrifying, actually, how many people are just… existing. Not living. They’re chasing titles, ticking boxes, buying homes, marrying partners, building brands…but still feel empty. Even when they arrive at what they once prayed for, it never seems like enough. Why? Because we’ve been conditioned to keep striving, but never arrive. Hell we don’t even really celebrate people’s lives and accomplishments until they’re dead!
People don’t even really celebrate milestones anymore. A major accomplishment happens, and instead of resting in the joy, they’re already planning the next dopamine hit. The next project. The next trip. The next post…how many events are we really even present for? We take pictures and posts but are we really even there?
The pressure to survive and thrive is astronomical. This economy, this culture…..it doesn’t give you room to breathe. To be. If you’re not 10 steps ahead, you’re perceived as 20 steps behind. And that mindset is draining people of their ability to be present, to feel joy, to recognize the fullness of the moment they’re in!
I’ve been thinking about happiness a lot lately. What it really looks like. What it truly feels like.
Happiness doesn’t need an audience. The moment you start performing your joy for others, it stops being yours and starts being something to maintain for likes, comments, or praise. Not everyone deserves a front-row seat to your joy. Not everyone is equipped to witness what or who is making you happy without projecting, judging, or silently resenting it.
Some things are sacred.
Because when you start protecting your happiness, you start preserving your peace. True happiness is quiet. It looks like peace in your home, when your space reflects your spirit.
It feels like laughter in your body….when joy lives in your nervous system, not just your face.
It sounds like gratitude in your prayers….when you’re thankful not just for the big things, but for breath, stillness, clarity.
True happiness doesn’t always come with applause. It’s not always met with recognition. Sometimes, it’s just alignment.
And in this world, that might just be the most radical thing of all.
This was a beautiful write up on happiness and an excellent read. We really need to proactively give quote unquote Culture a makeover. It's become so performative that we aren't really.enjoying life the little moments of joy that exist in being present in the moment because we're far too concerned with making it all look so grandiose for strangers likes and comments. Find your peace find your joy find your love and truly live in it for your own pleasure forget the peanut gallery.
🎯 and it makes it so easy to celebrate the wins of others…that feels good in your body, too ✨ Thank God.
